Great City of Meknes Morocco

Morocco has four imperial cities and one of which is Meknes. Meknes Morocco is the smallest city of Morocco and divided into the New Town which is now Ville Nouvelle and Old Town or the medina. Because the New Town is the urban area, the bus stations and trains are situated here. Most hotels are also found here. From the medina, Ville Nouvelle can be a 20 to 30 minutes walk or you can take a taxi cab.

Most of the monuments that are interesting to see in Meknes Morocco are found in the medina. Being in Meknes, you should not fail to check these interesting spots: the landmarks of Moulay Ismail in the South East, the narrow street shops or souqs in the North of medina, and the home of the Mellah which is a Jewish quarter in the South West. Because Meknes is a small city, you can visit all there are to see around the city in a day. The medina square, El-Hdim, is quieter and smaller than Marrakesh. You can start shopping through the souqs or shops that you can come across at the square. After which, you can enjoy a taste of kebabs or barbecued chicken along with mint tea or coffee on a terrace of one of the coffee shops in the square. On some stalls in the square, you can get to eat Moroccan specialty and delicacies including exotic foods.

The square in Meknes Morocco holds the main highlight of entertainments. Circus attractions with acrobat exhibitions are being held in this place. Instrument musicians, dancers, medicine physicians, story tellers, snake charmers, and drummers draw people here for their acts. The El-Hdim square will sure catch your attention with events like these. Performances in the square are not meant to entertain guests or visitors, but the natives of Morocco.
